What happens when art leaves the gallery and enters the landscape? uncommissioned: Curaçao is an international public art expedition that transforms unexpected spaces into sites of encounter, reflection and dialogue. Bringing together artists from Curaçao, the wider Caribbean and beyond, the project unfolds across landscapes, communities and places that carry their own histories and meanings. Rather than treating the Caribbean as a collection of separate islands, uncommissioned approaches it as an interconnected network — shaped by movement, memory, colonial histories, cultural exchange, ecology and contemporary realities.The artists respond to specific places, allowing their works to emerge from the character, stories and tensions of each location. In doing so, the landscape becomes more than a backdrop: it becomes part of the work.There is no single exhibition space, no fixed route and no prescribed way of seeing. Uncommissioned: Curaçao creates space for encounters between artists and audiences, between past and present, and between the personal and the collective.
